Edward Mendoza, 32, was playing a Penny Slot Machine in a promotion at the Sandia Resort and Casino early Saturday afternoon, March 24th. Mr. Mendoza’s machine locked up, and he assumed it had simply malfunctioned. Mendoza then walked away. What he did not realize was that he walked away from the jackpot that he just won.
The Race-To-Riches jackpot winner is given a choice between a new Mini-Cooper or $22,000 in cash. Since Mendoza left the scene of the jackpot, Sandia Resort and Casino General Manager, Michael Moore, had to find this mystery player for the mystery jackpot. “We really had to track him down. We found him through his Player’s Club Card Number.” Explains Moore.
After a very extensive investigation, Mr. Mendoza was identified as the true Mystery Winner, was contacted and invited back to Sandia Resort and Casino to make his choice and collect his winnings.
Edward Mendoza works in the hospitality industry and loves to travel. “I already bought my plane tickets! I’m going to El Paso, Phoenix, Vegas and Europe this year. I’m still in shock,” says Mendoza.
When given a choice today between a new Mini-Cooper or walking with cash... Mendoza picked the $22,000 Cash Jackpot.
